Description:

Vieste is a city in the province of Foggia in Apulia. It is the most Eastern city of the promontory of Gorgano, and is a part of the Gorgano national park. The city consists of two parts with the first modern one occupying the promontory and the second historical being on the height. Ecology, infinite forests, picturesque mountains, beaches and historical patrimony represent the wealth of Apulia and Vieste. The center of the city is a typical medieval with narrow irregular streets, arcs and stairs. The main cathedral of Vieste - Concattedrale is devoted to Saint Maria and is located on the highest place of Vieste in a way that it is seen from any point of the city. While an enormous monolith of 25 metres high and natural origin stands on the Vieste%27s beach. It has already become the symbol of the city. Being in Vieste, do not forget to visit grottoes near the city, Padre Pio tomb, Foresta Umbra forest - Vieste is full of beauty and opportunities for tourists.

Vieste has a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild humid winters. Drought is frequent in summers.

The closest airports are in Bari (175 km), next to Naples (256 km), Pescara (222 km). You can get to Vieste by train from these airports. The center of the province, Forggia, is 100 km distant from Vieste and is reachable by train and bus.
