Description:
Viterbo is a city in northern Lazio in Italy and the capital of the same name province. This city has large historic center surrounded by stone walls, on the south-east archeological and termal zones are located. Viterbo history dates back to Etruscans, between 1300 and 1100 BC it was one of the most important cities of Europe but plague stopped development. Today Viterbo offers numerous interesting objects like Papal Palace (city was residence of he Patriarch of Rome for some time), St Lorenzo cathedral on the main square. Not far from the cathedral there is medieval area preserved in very good condition. Be sure to visit one of Viterbo termal springs, the most famous one is Bulicame. Also visit Etruscan Museum.

The nearest airports are Roman Ciampino and Fiumicino. Viterbo is connected with Rome and other cities by railroad line Viterbo-Capranica-Roma. You can easily explore the city on foot or use one of 15 bus lines.
