COURMAYEUR

Description:

Courmayeur is a commune in the Val d’Aosta region in Alps. The highest mountain in Italy and Europe (Monte Bianca) is situated exactly on its territory. Courmayeur is a borderline commune, it is connected with French city Chamonix by Monte Bianco tunnel. Population of this place grew in XVII century because of 4 sulfury springs. However today Courmayeur attracts with opportunities for winter sports practicing (skiing, snowshoes walking, tobogganing, alpinism, curling, hockey and etc.) In summer Courmayeur offers hiking in mountains and glaciers, alpinism and bicycle rides, sport fishing. This place is fascinating and Monte Bianco views are unforgettable.

Courmayeur climate is Alpine with short dry summer and snow cold winter.

Transport

The nearest airports are in Turin (150 km), Geneva (100 km0 and Milan. You can reach Courmayeur by train, although the resort doesn’t have its own railway station. You have to get to Pré Saint Didier station first and then catch a bus to the city. Also there are buses from Turin, Milan and Chamonix to Courmayeur.
