Description:
Forio, that is sometimes called Forio d%27Ischia, is an Italian town located on the Ischia island in the province of Naples. The town has undergone many Arab invasions so it has reserved Eastern traits in the architecture while local inhabitants speak their own dialect of the Italian language. In the historical center there are many old shops, palaces and churches. Some of the town%27s sights are particularly known: the Church of Soccorso, the Torrione tower and the Villa la Mortella park where you can find a great diversity of tropical plants. Also Forio has perfect beaches (San Prancesco di Paola and Chiaia are the most famous). Forio is full of shopping opportunities as well.
Climate
Forio belongs to a zone of Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild rainy winters. In summers the air is cooled by sea breeze from the side of the Neapoletan gulf.Transport
The closest airport is the Neapoletan Capodichino. The island of Ischia is regularly connected to Naples by ferry lines; there are high-speed ferries and simple ones. On the island the road network is well-developed (around 80 km.) so even in the high season here you can get in traffic jam. It%27s highly recommended to use bicycle. Also there are some lines of public transport (bus) in Forio.
