Naples is the third largest Italian city and it lies in the bay of Naples close to the famous Vesuvius volcano. The city was founded by the Greeks and it has a 2`500 year history. Its rich cultural and historical sights are interwoven in today’s urban city. This patrimony is present everywhere and not just in the museums. The city%27s is a mixture of Greek walls, roman columns, numerous monuments, baroque palaces and other palaces reflecting the city%27s various epochs. You will find many castles like the Castel Nuovo, Castel Sant%27Elmo, Castel dell%27Ovo and many churches that are more than 400 years old. The locals speak the Neapolitan dialect that has its own literary tradition and thus can be considered a separate language but Italian is the official language. Naples is the true home of pizzas but also of the mandolin, a national Italian music instrument. You will fall in love with Naples, a city of contrasts.

Climate

Naples lies the Mediterranean climate zone, with hot dry summers and mild rainy winters. However, in the summer air is often cooled by a breeze blowing from the Gulf.

Transport

Naples has good train connections and a ferry service. The Capodichino airport is near the city but there is no railway connection from the airport to the city. The only way to get to Naples from the airport is by bus. The public transportation in the city includes buses, trams, underground and a funicular service.
