MALAGA
Description:
Malaga is a Spanish city, belongs to Autonomous Community of Andalucía, which is situated on the coast of Mediterranean sea about 100 kilometers of the Strait of Gibraltar. On the one side it is surrounded by mountains and is washed by the bay on the other. Two rivers, Guadalmedina and Guadalhorce, cross Malaga and flow into the Mediterranean Sea. There are a lot of remarkable architectural monuments of different époques – La Alameda Principal - historical city centre, church Iglesia del Sagrario, old market-place Atarazanas, picturesque parques and gardens - Parque de Málaga and gardens Pedro Luis Alonso. World-wide famous modernist artist, sculptor and the founder of cubism Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in Malaga. In the city you can visit his birthplace and Malaga Museum of Picasso. Malaga has been known for its wine and Mediterranean cuisine, based on fish and seafood.

Climate in Malaga is subtropical-mediterranean, with annual temperature about 18 C/ Winter in Malaga is mild and worm, without any frost; in January temperature average 12 C. Summer is hot with winds, temperature in August, the hottest month is 25 C.Transport
Transport: Malaga Airport was the first one in Andalucía, nowadays it is the forth biggest in Spain. It is located 8 kilometers from the centre of Malaga and has a daily bus link with Malaga. There is a ferry transport through the Mediterranean sea from Malaga to Melilla. Malaga metro is under construction, the first line will be open by 2011. Buses of Empresa Malagueña de Transportes SAM are the main form of transport around the city, there are 43 bus lines in Malaga – among them 3 circular; all the buses are colored in blue. One way ticket costs 1.30 euro, but exist month-tickets for students, scholars and aged persons and special tourist cards.
