Description:

Puerto de la Cruz is a city located on the north part of Tenerife Island, Canary Islands, which is situated 9 meters over sea level. The highest elevation of this resort is a pick of volcano Las Arenas. Puerto de la Cruz was a pioneer city on Canary Islands cities in developing tourism area. The habitants of the island are called portuenses. Puerto de la Cruz has many places of interest for different tastes – The Botanic Garden, founded in 1788, The Castle of San Felipe, where nowadays are held exhibitions and music concerts, the famous beach with black sand Playa Jardín, consists of three areas - playa del Charcón, playa del Castillo и la playa de Punta Brava. Puerto de la Cruz is famous for local Carnaval - Carnaval de Puerto de la Cruz. Durante this event is chosen The Queen of Carnaval and organizes races for wimen, running on the heels not smaller than 10 centimeters.

Climate

The climate of the resort is quite different from the climate of the south part of the island – it is not such dry and extremely hot, thanks to trade winds the weather is mild and warm. The annual temperature on Puerto de la Cruz is 23 C.

Transport

Transport: TITSA Company organizes bus transportation through the whole island, connecting Puerto de la Cruz with the other cities of Tenerife and with the airport (single ticket price for transfer to airport – 9.70 euro).
