FARO

Description:

Faro is a port town situated in the southern part of Portugal on the Ria Formosa lagoon not far from the Santa Maria cape. Tourist coming here are mainly attracted by mild climate, sun and beaches. Faro is home to Algarve University, also there is a sea port and landing stage for private yachts. Among architectural landmarks the most interesting are Faro Castle, St Francis monastery, Capuchin monastery, Cathedral church, Episcopal palace and Belmarcu mansion.
