Description:
Innsbruck is not only a city in the heart of the Alps but it is also the capital of the Tyrol. Innsbruck is the main cultural and administrative center of Tyrol. Innsbruck with its surrounding high peak mountains and its medieval old town with the Inn River going through it, is a real pleasure to visit. Besides being an historic location, nature is omnipresent and invites you to enjoy it. You will find some gothic, baroque and renaissance buildings. In visiting Innshruck you will take a trip through history, starting with the Maria-Theresienstrasse with its charming gothic buildings the old federal state parliament (Altes Landhaus), the Kaiserliche Hofburg (Imperial Court) and Golden roof, as the symbol of the city. The Ambras castle dates back to the days of the Habsburger. For the ones that prefer modern art and architecture you can visit the BTV city forum from Heinz Tesar or the ski jump on the Bergisel from Zaha Hadid. Innsbruck hosted the winter Olympic games twice (in 1964 and 1976). The city has a good infrastructure for sports including stadiums, springboards, skating rinks and many skiing-areas (there are 9 in total)
Climate
The winters are cold with temperature around or below zero and the odd snow falls. The ski season on the surrounding mountains lasts from December till April. Average temperature in the summer is 25С.Transport
There is an international Innsbruck airport called the Kranebitten Airport and it is located on the outskirts of Innsbruck. The main public transports in Innsbruck include trams,buses and trains.
