Aix-en-Provence is a small town of south-east France, belonging to the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d%27Azur. This is a classic Provencal town with cozy narrow streets, traditional markets and wonderful cuisine, also known for the activity of such famous personalities as Paul Cézanne and Emile Zola. The culture of Aix-en-Provence is certainly a part of French cultural heritage. It is believed that the guests of the city must try four things: the famous sweet kalissons, anise liqueur pastis, lavender oil, and particularly the Marseille soap. Aix-en-Provence is a quiet and wealthy town 30 km away. from the bustling Marseille. It certainly will please by its traditional, architectural appearance and pleasant atmosphere.

Climate

The climate of Aix-en-Provence is of a Mediterranean type; winters are sunny and cold (the min. temperature -8,5 ° C), and hot summers (average temperature in July 25 ° C). Autumn and spring are warm because of the fact that the city is located in the lowlands, where warm air currents are concentrated.

Transport

The nearest airports are situated in neighboring Nice and Marseille. The city is also served by two railway stations,a regular one, located in the city center and TGV train station , built outside. Inside the city with its narrow streets the easiest way to travel is by foot, despite the fact that bus routes also operate there.
