Grenoble is an alpine town in the South-East of France, representing a major scientific and industrial center of the country. Among its famous residents are Stendhal, a famous archaeologist Jean-François Champollion and the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The city is also famous for being the start point of the French Revolution of 1789, and a place of X Olympic Games of 1968 . Among the main attractions of the city is the fortress of the Bastille, the cathedral of Notre-Dame, the Palace of the Parliament of Dauphiné and thousands of other interesting places. Since Grenoble is primarily an alpine town its residents and visitors always have the opportunity to engage in active sports.
