Description:

Montpelier is a relatively young city of French Riviera with a population of about 260000 inhabitants. Its ease, pleasant climate, relatively moderate price of life and traditions of a good education in the field of medicine attract tens of thousands of students. Montpellier is 10 km. from the Mediterranean Sea on the Lez River and is one of the few cities in France without the Gallo-Roman roots. The city has the oldest Botanical garden in the country (built in 1553) and its center, decorated with lots of gardens and more than 70 fountains, no doubt will delight the eye by its architectural ensemble as well. A new quarter Odysseum will entertain visitors by a planetarium, large aquarium, ice rink and many other attractions.

The climate of Montpellier refers to the Mediterranean type. This means that the winters are mild and wet (average January temperature is 7.1 ° C), and summers sre dry and hot (23.4 ° C in July).

Transport

Airport Montpellier - Méditerranée links the city with Paris and other French sites, as well as London and Frankfurt. But Montpellier, can also be reached by train TGV from Paris (3.5 hours), from Brussels (5.5 hours) or from Lyon for 1.5 hours coming to a city railway station of Saint-Roch.
