Description:

Blackpool, located on the West coast of England and facing the Irish Sea, has been a classic seaside tourist destination for over 150 years. It has a population of 142,900 inhabitants. In the summer the city becomes the Mecca for lovers of ballroom dancing with people coming from every corner of the globe. A third of the tourists coming to Blackpool come in early autumn to see its famous gleaming festival of light, called the Blackpool Illuminations. This festival is more than a century old. Blackpool is also famous for its endless beaches with three piers and a very long promenade. Along one of these beaches, you will find Blackpool%27s fun park which has one of the highest roller coaster in the world - Pepsi Big One. Do not miss the impressive replica of the Eiffel tower, the Blackpool tower which offers incredible views.

Climate

Blackpool has typical seaside weather with moderate climate conditions. The summers in Blackpool are sunny and warm while the winters are fairly mild. The average temperature in the summer months hovers around 20°C. The best time to visit Blackpool is in September when the temperature drops to 16°C.

Transport

Blackpool International Airport operates regular charter and scheduled flights throughout the UK and Europe. Public transportation in Blackpool consists of the very simple metroline of double-decker buses with one of them operating especially for tourists. Blackpool%27s trams also run along its promenade.
