BOWNESS-ON-WINDERMERE

Description:

Windermere is a small town in Cumbria (population is 8 thousand people), situated on the southern part of Lake District, about 2 km from Windermere Lake. The town has a number of museums and interesting structures (St Mary Church, for example) but tourists are attracted first of all by the Lake itself and the surrounding delightful nature. You can take on of various cruises or rent a boat and explore nearby towns and islands (there are 18 of them).

Climate

Climate is temperate maritime as anywhere in Great Britain. Summer is cool (no more than 15 days in July temperature reaches 25C) and winter is mild (light frosts occur no more than 50 nights a year). Precipitations are relatively small.

Transport

It is easy and fast to get to Manchester and its airport and some other nearby cities on a bus.
