Description:
Folkestone is a city in Kent that during XIX century was one of the best known resorts in the Southern England. Victorian hotels are still open for visitors and restaurants with delightful seafood dishes are still full with guests. Folkestone is situated on the bay that is surrounded by sandy beaches and cliffs. On the top of on of them there is Martello Tower that was constructed in 1806 as a defence against Napoleon. On the other cliff found a place old Victorian lift that elevates all bold spirits from beaches to the upper part of the city. Also Folkestone is home to the Channel Tunnel Entrance that is considered to be on of the seventh wonders of the modern world. Part of the city is situated in the area of outstanding natural beauty. In addition, it is convenient to get to Canterbury and Devon from Falkestone.
Climate
Climate is temperate maritime. Winter is mild (the coldest night temperature won’t fall under -9C) and summer is cool (temperatures above 25C are uncommon). The sunniest and the driest period is from April to September.Transport
The easiest way to get to the city is by car or by train. London is only 100 km away, a little bit further are Lille and Bruges.
