Description:
Oban is a resort town in Scotland with the population of about 8 thousand people that increases to 25 thousand during the tourist season. Oban is situated on the shore of a marvelous bay of the North Sea and it is easy to get to Hebrides from there. Oban has many notable sights: Saint Columba Cathedral, Dunollie Castle and Dunstaffnage Castle, McCaig Tower with breathtaking views on the bay and islands. Also there is a manufacturer that produces perfect whisky and in addition local cuisine is famous for its seafood dishes. Oban has a good location relative to picturesque mountain valley Kilmartin. It should be kept in mind that about 10% of the citizens speaks Gaelic.
Climate
Climate is temperate maritime as everywhere in Great Britain. Summer is cool (average July temperature is 14-24C) and winter is very mild (in January temperature usually doesn’t fall under 0C).Transport
There are numerous ferries to Hebrides. You can come to Oban on a train or on a bus from Glasgow (beautiful view during the journey), also Oban is served by Loch Lomond Seaplanes (summer flights from Glasgow).
