Description:

Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the capital of Quebec province. It was found in 164 2by French people and used to called Ville de Marie or “Mary’s town”. Present name is the same with the name of the hill Mont Real that is situated in the city center. Today Montreal is considered to be not only the cultural capital of Canada but also economic center of the country (together with Toronto). Montreal has preserved rich architectural heritage: old port, wind mills, factories are all of great interest. Other landmarks are Notre-Dame de Montréal, Bonsecours Market, Montreal University and St.James Street. The majority of historic buildings are concentrated in the district Old Montreal. Official language here is French.

Climate

Climate in Montreal is a mixture of different types with most features of wet continental climate. Seasons are strongly marked, summer is warm or hot, winter is cold and snowy. Spring and autumn are mild.

Transport

Montreal has two international airports. Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau serves passengers and Montréal-Mirabel is transport. Montreal is connected by railroad communications with other cities of Canada. Bus and metro network are served by Société de transport de Montréal company. Electric trains that links Montreal with suburbs are very popular.
