Description:

Dothan is a city in Alabama situated near Florida and Georgia boundaries with the population about 65 thousand people. Dothan is considered to be “the peanut capital of the world” and this is perceptible: every November National Peanut Festival is held, there is a monument and museum devoted to the genius breeder George Washington Carver and in addition small peanut sculptures colored in different ways are spread around the city. Besides peanuts Dothan has interesting Aviation Museum with large helicopters collection, marvelous botanical garden, library and opera, theme-park, vineyard surrounded by the oak trees, aquatic center with ocean-size waves and a big antique store.

Climate

Climate is humid subtropical. Summer is hot and humid with average July temperature of 30C. Winter is mild and warm with usual January temperature of 10C. Snow is very rare but from spring to autumn tornadoes are common.

Transport

Dothan is served by Dothan Regional Airport hat provides regular flights to Atlanta. The nearest big cities are Mobile, Birmingham and Atlanta. Dothan doesn’t have public transportation system.
