Description:
La Jolla is a city on the Pacific Ocean coast in California with the population of about 32 thousand people. There situated The University of California (by all means walk around the campus, find Stonehenge and fantastic Geisel library which is especially beautiful in the twilight), Salk Institute of Biology Studies (it is constructed on a steep cliff, surrounded by moat and orange trees), Scripps Institution of Oceanography with amazing aquarium and headquarter of National University. Mount Soledad is a nice area in the eastern part of the city with numerous houses overlooking the ocean, narrow streets and monumental concrete cross erected in memory of Korean War. Nature of this land is marvelous. There are caves, various beaches: sandy and stone, with mild and strong waves, with reefs. Also there is the biggest nudists beach in the country. Torrey Pines Reserve is a plateau with steep cliffs, small canyons and beautiful bay. There live many species of wild animals, birds and plants. There is a great view from the top of the plateau to the Ocean. If you are lucky you can watch whales and dolphins in winter from this place.
Climate
Climate is mild, semi-arid. Average July temperature is 22C, in January it falls to 14C. The warmest period is from late summer to early autumn. Precipitation occurs very rarely.Transport
The nearest big city is San Diego with its International Airport. Metropolitan Transit System provides fast and comfortable movement around the city.
