METAIRIE

Description:

Metairie is a city in Louisiana with the population of about 150 thousand people situated between Mississippi river and Pontchartrain Lake. During the last 60 years Metairie suffered from hurricanes and flood several times. The last one was in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina pounced upon it. The city was quickly rebuilt and today there are plenty of parks, playgrounds and four public libraries. Metairie never had rich history or outstanding architecture but it it is very close to New Orlean and Baton Rouge.

Climate

Average July temperature is 28C, in January it usually doesn’t fall under 5C. Precipitations are often during the whole year, the driest month is October.

Transport

Metairie is served by Louis Armstrong International Airport. Public transportation network isn’t really developed so the best is to rent a car.
