SAINT CHARLES

Description:

Saint Charles is a city in Missouri state on the bank of Missouri River with the population of about 65 thousand people. It was founded I 1765 by fur trader Louis Blanchette. A number of places in St. Charles are connected in some way with Lewis and Clark Expedition that finished exactly here (for example, Lewis and Clark Boathouse and Nature Museum). While staying in Saint Charles be sure to visit Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne Shrine and walk around old streets full of small shops, antique stores and restaurants. You will also find a lot of attractions outside the city as there are numerous wineries, very long Katy Trail (360 km), The Daniel Boon House and Village, lakes and other nature amenities.

Climate

Climate combines features of humid continental and humid subtropical zones. All seasons of the year are strongly marked. Summer is hot and humid with common temperatures over 30C. The first snow usually occurs in November. Winter temperature usually doesn’t fall under -7C. The most precipitation occurs during spring.

Transport

Lambert International Airport in St. Louis is only 15 minutes drive from Saint Charles. Public transportation network is not very developed but then you can ride in a carriage.
