The city is located in North Carolina, Wake County. It is situated 8 miles west of Raleigh, North Carolina. The city enjoys a convenient location in Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill ("Triangle"). This "Triangle" is the territory of a large city with the suburbs. The population is approximately 94 536 people. The modern city of Cary was originally known as Bradford%27s Ordinary. In 1750 there appeared the first settlers. The area became the main route of the railway area, which, in turn, was built in the mid-1800s. Touching on the history of this city, it is impotant to highlight that once a farmer and lumberman from County of Wake, Allison Francis and his wife Catherine bought the land in 1854 and named it "Cary." The name of the city was given in honor of Samuel Fenton Cary, prohibitionist and former Congressman of Ohio. April 6, 1871 the town was officially incorporated. Allison Francis became the first mayor of this city.
