Description:
The growth of the city Wilson was very slow as other cities which were located on the border until the railroad was built in this area. The final construction of the railway was completed in 1845, and thus, the city became a flourish and started to grow rapidly. In January 1849 Wilson was officially incorporated as a city after the unification of the territories and the Hickory Grove Toisnot Junction. Speaking about the name of the city,it was named in honor of Louis D. Wilson, a soldier who died fighting in the Mexican War.

Wilson is located at 35°43%2752"N and 77°55%2725"W. The total area of Wilson is estimated as 23.4 square miles. The city is situated at the intersection of Highway-95 and U.S. 264, about 45 minutes east of Raleigh, the state capital.Transport
