Description:

Akron is a city in Ohio on the Little Cuyahoga River near Great Lakes with the population of about 200 thousand people. It was founded in the beginning of 19th century and grew very fast at first owing to the construction of a canal and then because of rubber production. Our city is home to Akron University where serious polymer researches are made also Kent State University is situated in the suburbs. Akron architecture is diverse and interesting. Akron Civic Theatre made in Moorish style and 20th century mansion Stan Hywet with 65 rooms are particularly beautiful. Numerous museums and galleries wait for visitors, expansive parks disposes to a walk. Goodyear Aerospace Airdock really worth a visit. Different events like Soap Box Derby or Hamburger Festival are held annually. Also Symphony Orchestra and Ohio ballet performances are quite regular; in addition, artists from other regions play on tour.

Climate is humid continental. Winter is cold and quite snowy with very unstable temperatures. In January can happen both warmings to 10C and frosts to -18C. Summer is hot, sunny and rainy in the same time. Average July temperature is 27C. Spring and autumn are cloudy and cool.

Akron is served by Akron-Canton Regional Airport. Public transportation network is well developed. You can go to many neighboring cities by bus.
