Description:
Petersburg is a city in Virginia with the population of about 30 thousand people. Petersburg is known as the place where the oldest black settlements in America appeared. Today whites presents only one quarter of the city population. Historical structures preserved from 18-20 centuries make a unique appearance of the city center. The most notable is Battersea House that was built in neoclassical style in 1767-1768. Thoughtful walk around the Pamplin Park with the National Museum of Civil War Soldier and picturesque fortification remains can take the whole day. River Appomattox with a huge waterfall lies not far from the city. Also military base Fort Lee is at hand.

Climate is moderate, summer is wet. Average July temperature is 27C, in January it falls to 2C. Most precipitation occurs in September.Transport
The nearest big international airport is in Richmond. Petersburg is surrounded by the network of highways. It is convenient to move around the city by bus.
