Description:

Roanoke is an independent city in the Mid-Atlantic U.S. state of Virginia and is the tenth-largest city in the Commonwealth. In the city in the Square is the cultural center in which are located: the Museum of History of the Western Virginia, the Museum of sciences of the Western Virginia and Hopkins%27s Planetarium. And in Art museum Taubman it is possible to look at modern American life. The Harrison Museum of African-American Culture is dedicated to the history and culture of Roanoke%27s African-American community and is currently located at a former school in the Gainsboro section of Roanoke. On the ground floor of a building of the center there is a theater.

Climate

Being located along the Blue Ridge Mountains, Roanoke lies in the transition zone between the Humid subtropical climate zone and the Humid continental climate zone, with four distinct, but generally mild, seasons. Temperatures may reach over 100 °F (38 °C) in summer or dip below 0 °F (−18 °C) in winter.

Transport

Roanoke Regional Airport is located in the northern part of the city and is the primary passenger and cargo airport for Southwest Virginia.
