Description:
Canberra is the capital of Australia and 8th most populated city of the country. Canberra was found with the aim to loosen rivalry between Melbourne and Sidney for the right to be the capital of Australia. Architectures plan was to create “garden city” and the idea was realized. Canberra is home to Parliament, Supreme Court, Australian ministries and to numerous cultural institutions: Australian National Gallery, Australian National Museum and more. Of course, the major part of Canberra is modern but several colonial buildings also have been preserved.
Climate
Climate of Canberra is formed by its location. Summer is dry and hot, winter is cool with rare air frosts. Mountains can be covered by snow. The strongest frost occurred in 1971 but temperature reached only -10C. Seasons of the year are strongly marked.Transport
Automobile is the main vehicle of the city. Canberra is connected by railroad communications with major cities of the country. The main public transport is bus. Canberra International Airport links the city with other Australian centers.
