Description:

Launceston is the second city in state Tasmania after the capital Hobart. I is situated on the north part of the island on the Tamar River. Launceston is famous for big number of parks and for Cataract Gorge that is really picturesque and situated not far from the city. In the City Park live Japanese macaques (the present from sister city Ikeda) and Launceston Zoo realizes many programs aimed at the preservation of Tasmanian devil population. Launceston has various museums, the biggest one is Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. Walk around the city center hat has preserved old architecture.
