A pirate’s shelter and a small fisherman’s village in the past, today Armacao dos Buzios is a seaside resort for prosperous people. Officially the town became known to the world by the famous French actress Brigit Bardot. Along with Sen-Trope she preferred it for its secluded beaches and wonderful sea, there is a monument in memory of the actress on the called by her name embankment. Since 60-70s the town was changed dramatically first and foremost in the hotel sphere and infrastructure. Nothing’s left of the quiet village today: it became popular among rich Brazilians and many world famous politicians, sportsmen, among whom there are Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, Naomi Campbell and other. Armacao dos Buzios is 7th most visited place in Brazil thanks to its diverse coastline and it continues to attract more and more tourists annually. Everyone finds here a rest he/she likes: the eastern coast is ideal for those who is fond of surfing, the water is more cool here yet the necessary wind never stops to blow. Those who are keen on sunbathing should choose beaches in the western part of the peninsula, where Armacao dos Buzios is located. The town offers many other ways to spend one’s time, most of them are designed for a well-off tourist: golf, squash, yachting and equestrian sports, ecotourism, etc. To relax after daytime activities one can go shopping or have a dinner in one of the numerous local cuisine restaurants located in the main street Rua das Pedras. Those who find themselves in Armacao dos Buzios in October-November can visit the annual food festival and Búzios Cine Festival.

One can get to Armacao dos Buzios by plane: there’s an International Airport in Cabo Frio in 35 km from the town. There’s also an Umberto Modiano Airport that also hosts private planes.
