Description:

The two-million capital of the same named state and the biggest city in the south of Brazil. Curitiba plays an important role in the business life of the country, offices of big national and international companies are situated here, including such giants as: HSBC, Sadia, Kraft, Esso. Curitiba is also known as a car industry major centre, here are the factories of Audi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Renault, New Holland, Volvo and Fiat. Curitiba economic growth was fostered first and foremost by it location: in the closest vicinity with the city there’s Afonso Pena International Airport and Paranagua seaport, the developed road and rail network connects it with other regions in Brazil. Inspite of it urbanized character Curitiba has preserved its historic heritage: some time ago it was inhabited by the Indians who gave Curitiba its name, it was of interest to gold workers, in the 16th century the city became home to numerous immigrants: Germans, Italians, Poles and Ukranians. All these events couldn’t help but influenced its further development, was reflected in its culture and architecture. The city provides its dwellers a high living standard and good ecology, there are many parks (the green zones cover the territory up to 52 sq. m) and recreation areas, great infrastructure.

Climate

Subtropical, humid and moderate. The registered daytime temperature minimum is 8°C in winter, in summer it may exceed 25°C. There is no heavy rainfall throughout a year, with its maximum in summer.

Transport

There is Afonso Pena International Airport, good road and rail network connects C to other Brazilian cities. One can get around the city using public transport, there’s one of the best public transport systems in the country.
