Is a capital city of Amazonas state with a population of 1,5 million people. It is situated in the heart of the Amazon forest. The city developed rapidly thanks to the caoutchouc abundance, it became an important cultural centre in the north of Brazil and got a nickname “A Tropical Paris”. Its rich history is represented in multiple sights of Manaus, the most interesting of them are the Opera House Amazonas that is now a part of the Brazilian national heritage, the former government residence Palacio Rio Negro, the Justice Palace, the Municipal Market. A decrease in caoutchouc demand couldn’t help but influenced Manaus as the “caoutchouc capital”, the city’s development continued only in the middle 50s and made it one of the major country’s electronics producers. Tropical monsoon. Temperature stays almost the same throughout a year, with average one being 26-27°C. It may exceed 32°C in summer and fall up to 22°C. It seldom goes lower than 23°C at nighttime. The period from November to May receives the heaviest snowfall, with minimum in winter months.

One can get to Manaus by plane. Those who fly from Europe need to use Fortaleza International Airport that is situated in the north-east of the country as the airport in Manaus hosts mainly local and American flights.
