Description:
The capital of the most densely populated state, the largest city in Brazil. Founded in the 16th century, for quite a long time it was a small town. It began to develop rapidly since the middle of the 19th century, when the popularity of coffee grew and it became one of its world%27s leading exporters. Triggered by wars and crises of the 20th century demand for coffee decreased, which made investors refocus on industry. Today Sao Paolo is a major industrial, trading and financial centre, with offices of both national and international companies. A big multiсonfessional metropolis, Sao Paolo was for a long time considered the main competitor of Rio, and while Rio has a status of a bohemian city of Brazil, Sao Paolo has all the right to be called its %27business capital%27. Sao Paolo hosts natives of all the continents, one can meet here descendants of Indians, Africans, the Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and many other. Sao Paolo is inextricably connected with Formula-1: the world famous racers Rubens Barrichello and Felipe Massa were born here, as well as legendary Ayrton Senna, his tomb and museum sre situated here. Every year thousands of fans come to Sao Paolo to see with their own eyes a Gran-Prix of the most expensive sport on the planet: the autodrome Interlagos influenced the Championship results many times. Those not interested in sports can visit the Museum of History, Museum of Arts of Sao Paolo, Museum of Crafts, Latin America Memorial and many others. In spite of being heavily urbanized, Sao Paolo is quite a green city: one can take rest after exhaustive sightseeing tours in Ibirapuera, the most famous of its 30 parks.
Climate
Humid subtropical, favourable: there are no typical for the USA coast tornados. Temperature flactuates around 30°С throughout a year, it seldom goes lower than 28°С even in winter August. The heaviest rainfall occurs during the warmest months: December, January and February.Transport
The city has 3 airports: the International Airport Guarulhos is situated in 25 km from the city centre, the other two: Campo de Marte Airport and Congonhas Airport host domestic flights and are located in 6 and 8 km respectively. To get around the city one can use metro.
