Lima is the capital and the biggest city in Peru, it is situated in the central part of the country in the desert on the Pacific Ocean coast. Lima was found in 1535 by Spanish Conquistadors, they named it “the city of kings” (Ciudad de los Reyes) and since that time Lima came through various events: flourishing thanks to trade, pirates’ attacks, numerous earthquakes, influx of immigrants. All these reflected on the fantastic appearance of Lima: there you can see fanciful tangle of architectural styles, taste cuisine of different nations, hear languages of all continents. Lima historic center is in the UNESCO World Heritage list, there you will see examples of colonial architecture like St Francisco Monastery, Main Square, Cathedral, Torre Tagle Palace and more. Numerous museums of Lima keep perfect collections of South American art and can be a real discovery for guests of the city. Lima is served by big Jorge Chavez International Airport that provides wide communication with North America, Canada and numerous Peru cities. Bus stations are situated in the Lima suburbs. You can get around the city by micro buses that can be stopped at any place. Also there are usual middle and big buses, stops are announced by conductor. Electric trains run around Lima since 2011.
