Stay at the Hotel Ambassadeur during your time in West Flanders. This reasonably priced Ostend hotel is well located on the city’s main square, the Wapenplein, and within walking distance of the beach called the Klein Strand. The Hotel Ambassadeur is a cosy, old-fashioned hotel that was fully renovated in March of 2011. Its facilities include a well-equipped meeting room and a sauna. The hotel restaurant, called Arno’s Café, specializes in fresh seafood; in warm weather, patrons can dine at outdoor tables and watch pedestrians strolling through the square. Wi-Fi internet access is free both in guest rooms and in the hotel’s public areas. From its location at the northeast corner of Ostend, on the Wapenplein square, the Hotel Ambassadeur offers easy access to some of the best shopping in Belgium: a modern shopping centre called Feest, popular chain stores along Kapellestraat street, and designer clothing boutiques along Adolf Buylstraat. Also within walking distance are the De Plate Oostend Historical Museum, housed in a 19th-century summer residence of King Leopold; the James Ensorhuis, a small museum in the Belgian artist’s former home; and the Kursaal Casino. Along the harbour to the east are the North Sea Aquarium (Noordzeeaquarium), a floating maritime museum on board a Belgian merchant marine ship called the Driemaster Mercator, and the Klein Strand, a small, sandy beach.
