Just in front of our hotel you cannot fail to find Germany’s highest maypole (58 metres) which was erected here in 2006 when the hotel celebrated its 50th anniversary.The village of Abbehausen builds a gateway to the Butjadingen peninsula. Wander along the embankment through salt marshes towards dreamy little harbours, right through the green Marsch river, past homesteads and tiny villages. For a truly unforgettable experience on the North Sea coast, sail to the harbour seal banks in the Wattenmeer national park.

Exceptionally delicious meals are prepared by our chefs using the freshest ingredients from local farmyards or indeed fish caught straight out of the North Sea. Our Zur Dorfschmiede hotel pub welcomes you to enjoy a traditional atmosphere, sitting by the open fire, playing cards or chatting to locals. In the hotel café you can enjoy a fragrant coffee or a cup of East Frisian tea poured out of traditional teapots, along with home-made cakes and tarts or an ice-cream of your choice – on our sun deck of course, if you so please.
