Location The town of Oberammergau, with a population of just 5,000, is known world-wide not only for its Passion Play every 10 years but also for its woodcarvings and other arts. At Oberau (just before Garmisch) turn right towards Oberammergau. Take the first entrance to Oberammergau and then drive straight to the church tower. From Augsburg or Kempten, also take the first entrance and drive straight to the centre of town to the church tower, which can be seen from everywhere in the town.
