Originally a Franciscan convent, built in 1587, this magnificent hotel overlooks the heart of the Chianti wine region and is a few kilometres from the medieval city of San Gimignano. The rooms, which are furnished in a style that reflects the Sienese Renaissance palaces, are located in the former cloister. The top-floor rooms overlook the 13 towers of San Gimignano.Spend long afternoons swimming in the hotel’s ample pool or strolling in the beautiful, Italian-style garden opposite the ancient building, whose warm, sober tones of pietra serena blend perfectly with the shapes and proportions of Tuscan Renaissance architecture.In the evenings, you can dine under the Roman vaulting of the ancient chapel, which is richly decorated in sumptuous red and gold.

By Car: From Milano or Bologna (north):- Take the A1 southward Bologna/Roma.- Exit at Firenze Certosa. - Just after the toll gate, exit to your right, joining the superstrada to Siena. - Drive for approximately 45 km and exit at Poggibonsi Nord. - Follow signs to San Gimignano (approximately 13 km) until you reach the town. - Continue straight for approximately 2 km in the direction of Certaldo (please do not take into consideration any signs towards Certaldo until you reach the town of San Gimignano). - At the roundabout, turn left in the direction of Gambassi; la Collegiata is located on the top of a hill on your right, just 30 metres along.From Roma (south):- Take A1 north Firenze/Milano.- Exit at Valdichiana. - Just after the toll gate, take the road towards Siena. - Once in Siena take the superstrada towards Firenze.- Exit at Poggibonsi Nord. - Then, as above.From Firenze:- Take superstrada to Siena, which is located near the exit of A1 Firenze Certosa. - Drive for approximately 45 km.- Exit at Poggibonsi Nord. - Then, as above.From Siena:- Take the superstrada to Firenze.- Exit at Poggibonsi Nord. - Then, as above.By Plane:From Pisa airport:- Follow the blue signs in the direction of Firenze (do not follow green signs to motorway).- Drive for approximately 40 km and exit at Empoli-Ovest. - From there, follow signs to Castelfiorentino-Certaldo. - After Certaldo, keep driving in the direction of San Gimignano.- After approximately 10 km you will find a crossroad to Gambassi; turn right.- La Collegiata is located on the top of a hill on your right, just 30 metres further along.

During the summer months, you can enjoy breakfast in the garden, whilst taking in the wonderful views over the towers of San Gimignano. In the colder months, breakfast will be served indoors. A rich buffet breakfast with fresh cakes and local products, all labelled to show their origin and characteristics, is served daily. You can also enjoy a wide selection of fresh fruits and juices. The origins of La Collegiata go back to the 16th century when the inhabitants decided to build a monastery dedicated to the Cappuccini monks who had helped the population to survive difficult times.
