The Swan is a 3 star hotel in Alton, a town in Hampshire, England, famous for housing Jane Austen's cottage where she lived most of her life and where she wrote six of her novels. The Swan Hotel features a contemporary restaurant with modern furniture on a beautiful mahogany floor and a cosy lounge where guests can relax and have a break from the shopping or sightseeing. Note: the hotel will be undergoing refurbishment works between the 31st January 2011 and early March. Works will be carried out between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
