A small family-run hotel with after dinner entertainment provided by the host. 5 miles east of Durham city, on the B1283 road at Haswell Plough. John and Dorcas Milner have been the owners of The Gables Hotel for the past 23 years and have lived in the village of Haswell Plough for the past 38 years. The Gables is a small family-run hotel which has a very good reputation for its fine English foods. It has been recommended by the AA and Les Routiers. The restaurant is small but quaint and cosy.

The GABLES Hotel is on the B1283 road approximately 5 miles east of Durham City, one of the worlds most famous and historic cities. The Cathedral and Castle date back to the 9th Century and are very beautiful. One of England’s most famous open air museums, Beamish, is only a half hours drive, and is a must for anyone visiting the North East of England. If you enjoy football, we have three Premier teams all within a half hours drive. St. James’ Park, home of Newcastle United, the Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland A.F.C. and the B.T. Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough Football Club. If you prefer shopping, we have Europe’s largest shopping centres, The Metro Centre Gateshead, and Eldon Square in Newcastle. We also have some excellent Nightclubs in Newcastle and Stockton.These are just some of the most well known attractions in the area.
