South of Whitley Bay lies Country Durham, home to the Beamish Museum, Barnard Castle and Durham Cathedral.

By Car (from the A1):- From the A1, follow the signs for the A19 and towards the Tyne Tunnel.- Then take the A1058 East and continue on until you reach the seafront.- Take the 1st exit off the mini-roundabout and continue along the seafront until you reach a set of traffic lights.- Take a sharp left onto the A193 - Park Avenue. The Park Lodge Hotel is on the left-hand side.

The guest house has an attractive lounge with a large coal fire, perfect for relaxing in the evening. We do not offer evening meals but, there are several very good restaurants within a few minutes' walk.
